Le Verger Sous Les Vignes - Villeferry

Nestling in the hills of the Auxois region that remain practically unchanged since the siege of Alesia, "Le Verger sous les Vignes" is made up of winemaker's houses grouped around an old, terraced orchard. The common spaces (dining room, Lounge, meeting rooms) all look out onto the country, offering a staggering view. The city in the country : this "end-of-the- world" place is curiously located at 1h20 from Paris by Train, 15 minutes from A6 Express Way, 50 minutes from Dijon, Beaune and Avallon.

All of the guest houses have their own living room, an equipped kitchen, a terrace, a stepped or Mediterranean style garden that allows for total intimacy. The idea that dominates the arrangement of these places is simple: respect the independent of each person. On can go to listen to music in the auditorium, read in the library, go on a walk along the private botanical garden of discovery, benefit of the sauna-jacuzzi room – all without ever encountering another guest if one prefers not to do so. But the respect for the intimacy of everyone doesn’t prevent the meeting of those who wish to be together in the various spaces that are open to all.

Vitteaux and its surrounding district (canton) are archetypes of the Auxois region. This little town of less than a thousand inhabitants is the size of a village, but with the remains of a past flourishing enough to have been a capital: the Belime house of the XII century and the market of the XIVcentury; but also the entire downtown area, with its houses made in part of wood. The canton, which is made up of little villages of old stone houses spread out over the plains and the hills, remains practically unchanged. The population density is very low and thanks to that, the most well known sites have remained a little secret: such as the abatial of Saint-Thibault, a true gothic cathedral constructed out in the middle of the fields; or the magnificent chateau of Posanges from the 14 century. The neighboring cantons of Semur and Precy sous Thil are a little different. They are on flatter ground, though the Butte de Thil is the sentinel point of Auxois.
